From the Archive: Can God?

Charlotte Willard   -

They spoke against God saying, “Can God spread a table in the desert?”

Psalm 78:19

After seeing and experiencing God’s miracles in the wilderness, Israel continued to tempt God to leave them to their own devices. They constantly doubted God and asked this question, “Can God . . .?”

We find fault with the Israelites, but how many times we have doubted God. In the past we have seen God supply a special need, heal a loved one, or change a situation that only He could have changed. When we doubt God’s hand of provision, don’t you imagine we deeply hurt the Lord?

Andrew Murray said, “There is no strength in unbelief.” We tie God’s hand of blessing when we doubt His power.

Our pastor has been reminding us of the extraordinary God we serve. Let’s take the Lord at His Word and trust that He will provide for us those things which will cause us to grow spiritually.

Instead of asking “Can God . . .?” let us learn to say, “God can!”
